He graduated in History from the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa in 1986 and obtained a PhD in Information Sciences from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2003 (title registered in Portugal at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2004).
General Secretary of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa between 1993 and 2006, where he has collaborated since 1989.
Administrator of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa in charge of Communication and External Relations and Social Action.
He is a professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa in the Department of Communication Sciences, as well as a guest professor at the Pontifícia Universidade de Salamanca (Madrid Campus) in the 3rd cycle.
He is a guest lecturer at the Higher Institute of Military Studies.
He is a member of the Unesco Chair, through the Communication Group of the Spanish Commission.
He is a researcher in the field of information sciences and publishes regularly in the written press under the motto “Information Society”.
He is the author of the monographs: “Bit Society, from Information Society to Knowledge Society” and “Butterfly Flight, Chronicles of the Information Society”.
Member of the Scientific and Pedagogical Councils of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa.
