This research group follows on from and brings together expertise from previous Research Groups and Lines – “Dynamics and Interactions in Greater Eurasia” and “Studies of Peace and War” – with a view to deepening knowledge from an interdisciplinary perspective on current international security realities, new strategic data and imperatives for promoting peace, taking into account the latest approaches and developments at global, local or regional level – with emphasis on the European, Atlantic, Mediterranean and African areas, – as well as contributing to the spread of a culture of conflict resolution by peaceful means.

The vast majority of projects and activities are developed with partner institutions, both Portuguese and foreign.
