The meaning of our logos

OBSERVARE is a Latin verb used here as an abbreviation for Foreign Relations Observatory. The logo symbol recalls the ziggurats, a kind of pyramid-shaped temples existing in ancient Mesopotamia since some millennia B.C., monuments where religious symbolism merges with the observation of vast spaces.

JANUS is a deity of two opposite faces, of Indo-European origin and one of the oldest in Rome. God of the beginnings (month of January) and of the transitions between the past and the future, guardian of the doors, watches over both the inside and the outside, right and left, what is forward and backward. It symbolizes here the necessary versatility in the analysis of international relations.
