Manuel Farto

PhD Researcher

Associate professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL) and associate professor (retired) at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão of the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, currently acting as director of the department of Economic, Business and Technological Sciences of UAL.

Graduated in Economics from ISEG, PhD in Economics from the Technical University of Lisbon by equivalence of the PhD in Histoire de la Pensée Économique, obtained at the University of Paris-X, Nanterre, 1987.

He is a visiting professor at the University of Orléans – France, the Federal University of Paraíba – Brazil, Eduardo Mondlaine University – Mozambique, Agostinho Neto-Angola University and the University of Algarve, and sub-director of the magazine “JANUS”.

He has held several public positions, namely Head of the Office of the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications and Deputy Director General of Higher Education and Academics, having been Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ISEG.

He has participated in several national and international conferences and published several articles in magazines and books.

His main research interests are: Macroeconomics, International Economics, History of Economic Thought and Economic Policy.
