Graduated in History from the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (degree obtained on 8 October 1986, with a final grade of sixteen) and Master in History – Modern History from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, with a dissertation entitled, Moçambique no tempo dos Filipes (1580-1640) – Contribuição para uma Sociologia Política da Expansão Portuguesa (degree obtained on 18 January 1996, with a unanimous grade of Very Good).
He has been teaching at the Autonomous University of Lisbon since October 1986, in the Departments of History and Psychology and in the specialization courses in Documentary Sciences and Educational Sciences.
Its scientific areas of research and teaching focus on institutional and political history and international relations and scientific methodology.
He has several published works, particularly in the area of History and International Relations.
