“MIDDLE EAST AND MAGHREB” – CONFERENCE CYCLE AND OPEN CLASSES 2022 | UAL-IDN

The cycle of open classes is framed within the Advanced Course of Studies on MIDDLE EAST AND MAGHREB that the International Relations Department of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL) and the Institute of National Defence (IDN) promote, in partnership.

Bringing together a renowned group of specialists, this course has the following OBJECTIVES:

  • Provide information and reflection on the historical and political evolution of the Middle East and Maghreb Region, through theoretical and practical analysis instruments that explore theoretical and conceptual specificities in the investigation of the political, economic and socio-cultural dynamics of the region
  • Understand the potential and risk factors in the Middle East and Maghreb region and characterise the political, economic and socio-cultural situation of peoples and countries in the region, as well as the interests and strategies of the most relevant regional and international actors and the external involvement and regional impact of conflicts in the region
  • Promote the in-depth analysis of the vectors, which influence the competitive and cooperative behaviours and interactions in the Middle East and Maghreb region, reflecting on concepts and theories, which help to understand the internal and external dynamics of the Middle East and Maghreb region.
