Luís Moita Chair: Humanism and International Relations

The Luís Moita Chair: Humanism and International Relations is a space for sharing, teaching and learning. But above all, it is a space for reflection on various themes that link the humanist approach with International Relations. It is also a meeting place that brings together academics, researchers, students and civil society through its many organisations.
This Chair is the continuation of a programme of Chairs previously created by Professor Luís Moita, the International Relations Chairs that ran for several academic years: the H. Mackinder Chair in Geopolitics. Mackinder Chair in Geopolitics; the J. Schumpeter Chair in International Economics; the F. Braudel Chair in Theories of International Relations; and the N. Bobbio Chair in Human Rights.

Events such as conferences, lectures and open classes have been held within the framework of these Chairs.
Inspired by the humanist spirit that characterised Professor Luís Moita so well, the management of the Department of International Relations and OBSERVARE decided to continue these initiatives by paying tribute to Professor Luís Moita, recognising the important role of a Chair in university education.

The main objectives of the Luís Moita Chair are:
– Promote critical

thinking on current issues in the field of International Relations
– Share experiences and knowledge
– Stimulate humanist thinking around international events
– Contribute to learning about theoretical issues, based on case studies and guided by rigorous methodological criteria

The website now created is a space for publicising the activities carried out within the scope of the Chair: https://observare.autonoma.pt/catedra-luis-moita
