Nancy Elena Ferreira Gomes. PHD in International Relations from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In 2009, she was awarded a Doctoral Scholarship by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for her PhD dissertation entitled The Policy of Portugal towards Ibero-America since 1991. She also holds a Master’s degree in International Relations by the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (Universidade de Lisboa) and a Graduation in International Studies from the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
She is an Associate Professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL), where she has taught since 1995, and was the Scientific Coordinator of the Degree in International Relations (January 2020 – February 2023). She is currently Coordinator of the Advanced Course on Latin American Studies, organized by the Department of International Relations (DRI) of UAL and the Institute of National Defense, and Coordinator of the Chair of Ibero-American Studies, created in partnership by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and UAL, attached to DRI/OBSERVARE.
She is a researcher at the Centre for International Studies at Iscte-IUL, and at OBSERVARE, specializing in Ibero-American affairs. She is the author of several scientific publications in national and international journals in her field of expertise, and an occasional commentator on issues related to Latin American countries on television, radio and in the written press.
Director of the Delegation of the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER) in Portugal since September 2022. Between September 2001 and October 2008 she worked as a Consultant at the Department of Education and Scholarships (SEB) of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
