She did a post doctorate in International Relations at the University of Groningen (Netherlands) 2009-2010. PhD in Political Science from the University of Twente (Netherlands) 2006. Master in Strategy by the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas, Technical University of Lisbon. Degree in History from the Faculty of Letters of Lisbon.
Guest external reviewer for the Journal of Common Market Studies and International Relations. She collaborates as a researcher with the Clingendael Institute in The Hague, the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and with ISCTE and UAL. He teaches at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa in the Master’s Degree in Peace and War Studies.
Between 2009-2010 was Research Fellow at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) (Ref. SFRH/BPD/46973/2008) with the PhD project ‘ESDP Operationalization and Implementation – Competences and Security Performance’. Research Team Grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology, Lisbon 2007, research project developed by ISCTE ‘Portuguese Armed Forces After the Cold War’ in which she collaborates as a researcher. Between 2002-2005 she was a scholarship holder of the Foundation for Science and Technology (Ref. SFRH/BD/8209/2002), with the research project leading to her doctorate under the theme ‘Multilevel Role Prescriptions – Portugal, NATO and CFSP’. Between 1999-2001 she was a NATO Individual Fellowship (Ref. IP/D16/2000/006) with an individual research project on ‘The Transatlantic Link and the European Defence and Security Identity in the Mediterranean Context’. In 1994 he was awarded the National Defence Prize for the best research work on the theme ‘Outline of a Portuguese Diplomatic Strategy – Portugal in World War II’.
Since February 2011, she has been responsible for the IDN’s Study and Research Center, a position she has accumulated since June 2012 with that of Director of the National Defense Course. She is coordinator by IDN of the Post-Graduation in Strategic and Security Studies, a joint organization IDN – Universidade Nova. National representative to the Executive Academic Board of the European Security and Defense College, Brussels. Between September 2006 and September 2008 she was Subdirector of the National Defense Institute and Director of CDN.
