OBSERVARE supported the International Conference “Law in the 21st Century and Active Citizenship”, held on 13 and 14 November at the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto. This event was organised jointly by the Porto School of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University, the Centre for Studies and Research in Law, the Farias Brito University Centre, the Federal University of Ceará and the Insight Data Science Lab.
The aim of the event was to promote a meeting between academics and forensic professionals from both countries to discuss issues related to “the individual as a digital citizen”, “domestic violence as a civilisational problem”, “access to justice as an instrument for guaranteeing citizenship” and “the environment, sustainability and intergenerational solidarity”. Professor Nancy Elena Ferreira Gomes, a researcher at OBSERVARE and Coordinator of the OEI-UAL Chair of Ibero-American Studies, was one of the guest speakers and presented a paper entitled “The European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean: Co-operation in the Fight against Climate Change”.
