On 30 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic situation. The world has not been the same since. Although the pandemic is not completely solved, after two years, it is already possible to analyse the impacts at an international level. In this open class, professors from the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa and the Universidade Lusófona do Porto analyse these impacts, looking especially at global governance and multilateralism. Faced with the severity of the pandemic, have institutions and states been up to the task? Did the pandemic mainly provoke cooperation or competition between States? These and other questions will be addressed by the speakers, who will also analyse the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine on governance and multilateralism.
