Recent years have revealed major transformations in the framework of International Relations, which is projected in foreign policies and negotiations by which States seek to structure and harmonize it. The end of the bipolar equilibrium and the new strategic design derived from it, as well as the diverse consequences of the globalisation dynamics, have posed heavy problems to the international actors – States, international organisations, NGOs, multinationals – and introduced new challenges, to solve them, to Diplomacy and International Negotiation. The Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, which has a long tradition in developing intensive courses in the area of Diplomacy, as proven by the 7 editions of the Diplomatic Career Preparation Course, offers the Specialization Course in Diplomacy and International Negotiation. This initiative has a highly qualified teaching staff that aims to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge and to stimulate debate on diplomatic activity.
