The course will be held exclusively in an online format unless public health conditions allow the option of having face-to-face sessions at IDN, in which case simultaneous transmission over the internet is ensured.

The Geopolitics of Sub-Saharan Africa course uses the Geopolitics analysis tool – space as a theater of operations – to understand Sub-Saharan Africa today, with a special focus on Portuguese-speaking African countries and regional security structures. With a multidisciplinary approach, the course covers fundamental issues of geopolitical activity in the region, presented by researchers specialized in the subjects. The organization falls to three research institutions: Instituto da Defesa Nacional (IDN), the Center for International Studies (CEI) of ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and OBSERVARE of Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL).
