In a context of rapid and profound changes in the international system, the European Union and South Asia face significant challenges, including in their mutual relations. The EU is particularly grappling with the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war and the shifts brought about by the second Trump Administration in the traditional U.S. foreign and security policy; South Asia is facing a renewed conflict crisis between India and Pakistan; and both Europe and South Asia are seeking to adapt to the growing U.S.-China competition and the reconstruction of the world order. Following a period of closer engagement between the EU and South Asian countries in recent years, what direction will their relationship take in light of current regional and global geopolitical dynamics? What are the main challenges and opportunities in EU–South Asia relations today? To address these questions and reflect on related issues, OBSERVARE–Observatory of External Relations at the Autónoma University of Lisbon (UAL) and the Sanober Institute of Islamabad invite you to attend this conference.
