CLASSROOM 90 AND ONLINE
The session ‘Advances in the international climate debate’ will discuss some of the milestones from the second half of the 20th century that have contributed to the advancement of environmental issues at an international level up to the incorporation of climate issues into the multilateralism agenda. The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 (Eco-92) marked the establishment of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which has the Conference of the Parties (COP) as its supreme body. During the session, key points in the international climate debate will be addressed throughout the COPs, which this year will have its 30th edition to be held in the Brazilian Amazon.
