Taiwan has been the scene of geopolitical tensions involving the main global powers, China and the USA. The former is claiming sovereignty over the territory and the latter is using its naval military power to defend the island against a hypothetical military invasion. In this context, the presidential and legislative elections to be held on January 13 in Taiwan are crucial.
