The Diplomatic Institute and the Embassy of Portugal in Pakistan co-hosted, on September 14, a webinar dedicated to the theme “Global Discourse on Indo-Pacific: Pakistan’s Response to the New Rules Based Order.”
The initiative counted with the participation of Qamar Cheema, political analyst and Professor of International Relations at NUML (Islamabad) and Luís Tomé, political analyst and Professor of International Relations at the Autonomous University of Lisbon.
Qamar Cheema addressed Pakistan’s positioning in relation to the most recent global developments. He analysed the evolution of the “Indo-Pacific” as a geopolitical and strategic terminology and the priorities for the countries of the region. Mr. Tomé’s presentation provided a historical analysis of the political and social realities that have conditioned Pakistan in recent decades and up to the present, characterising the country’s role and influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
The webinar included a question and answer period, in which the Ambassador of Portugal in Pakistan, Paulo Neves Pocinho, as well as the Ambassador of Pakistan in Portugal, Ahmad Nassem Warraich, shared their perspectives on the subject.
