PRESENTATION | JANUS YEARBOOK

The Lisbon Club and OBSERVARE – Foreign Relations Observatory of the Autonomous University of Lisbon announce the public launch of the JANUS 2024-2025 Yearbook, which will take place on 18 December at 11:00 a.m. in Auditorium 1 of the UAL.

The presentation will be made by the Director of OBSERVARE, Luis Tomé, accompanied by the Deputy Director, Fernando Jorge Cardoso, and the editor of the Janus Yearbook, Patrícia Magalhães Ferreira.

The session will feature a speech by the President of the Lisbon Club, Ambassador Francisco Seixas da Costa, who will present the framework for this edition’s thematic chapter: ‘Wars: the media wars and the forgotten wars.’

Published since 1996-97 by OBSERVARE – the Foreign Relations Observatory of the Autonomous University of Lisbon, the JANUS Yearbook has been co-published in partnership with the Lisbon Club since the 2024-2025 edition.

The Janus Yearbook takes a holistic approach to international relations, from government foreign policy to the community of nations and interactions between societies, covering various fields such as politics, diplomacy, strategy, the environment, economics, technology and culture, with a particular focus on the most current social dynamics and phenomena.

As usual, the Yearbook has two sections: a general section on the international situation, featuring articles on current relevant dynamics and phenomena; and a specific section on a theme in the form of a dossier, which in this edition is dedicated to media wars and “forgotten” wars, including articles on violent conflict, with a focus on case studies.

JANUS 2024-2025 brings together contributions from researchers and experts in International Relations, offering an insight into the global events and trends that are shaping the present.

The event is open to the public, with particular interest for authors, academics, researchers, professionals and students in the field.
