Hélder Prior

PhD Researcher

Hélder Prior holds a PhD in Communication Sciences (2013) from the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Beira Interior, Portugal, with the classification of Excellent by unanimity and mention of “European Doctor”.

He did post-doctoral training at the Faculty of Communication of the University of Brasilia with a scholarship from the National Post-doctoral Plan (PNPD-CAPES/2013), between May 2014 and December 2015, integrated in the line of Journalism and Society.

He is a researcher integrated in the On-line Communication and Contents Laboratory (LabCom) of the University of Beira Interior and a collaborating researcher in the Observatorio Iberoamericano de la Comunicación of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he carried out doctoral research periods between 2008 and 2012, and a foreign collaborating researcher in the Marketing Center of the School of Communication of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Center for Studies in Media and Politics of the University of Brasilia.

He is an executive member of the Board of Directors of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Investigadores en Campañas Electorales (ALICE) and a member of the editorial board of the magazines: “Rhêtorikê” (LabCom – UBI), “Más Poder Local” (Fundación Ortega y Gasset – Madrid) and Estudos em Comunicação (LabCom).

He is the author of the book “Esfera Pública e Escândalo Político” (2016), published by Media XXI and co-organizer, with Liziane Guazina and Bruno Araújo, of the work “Diálogos Lusófonos em Comunicação e Política” (2016), published by LabCom Books.
