Janus.net – e-journal of International Relations invites all interested parties to
submit articles for the special issue dedicated to the theme “Language and International
Relations”, to be published in January 2027.
This issue aims to promote interdisciplinary reflection on the role of language as a
constitutive factor in transnational political, social and cultural relations.
The main objective is to foster the dialogue – which has been intensifying in recent years – between the
fields of Linguistics and International Relations, recognising the growing relevance
of language-centred approaches to understanding relations between peoples and
states.
With this in mind, we seek contributions which, drawing on different
theoretical and methodological frameworks, explore the role of languages, discourses and
communicative practices in international processes.
Of particular importance are contributions from fields such as macrosociolinguistics,
discourse studies, critical discourse analysis, language policy and
intercultural and political communication, amongst others, whose perspectives enable an analysis of how
language contributes to the construction of identities, the production and reproduction of
power relations, the legitimisation of narratives and the shaping of dynamics between
transnational actors.
Articles must be submitted by 15 October 2026, in accordance with the
writing and formatting guidelines available on the journal’s website.
