Auditorium 1As part of the celebrations marking the centenary of Mário Soares’ birth, the OEI and a group of partners organised, in April 2025, the Colloquium ‘Mário Soares and Latin America: past, present, future’, with the aim of discussing his relationship with Latin America, from the perspective of a legacy that extends beyond time and national borders. This debate was guided by historical, biographical and bibliographical references that sought to cover the period from his first trip to Latin America to the end of his life, when, in the context of his governmental responsibilities, his thinking, actions and decisions became intertwined with the political history of the region.
This book brings together the papers resulting from the various presentations at the Colloquium and makes them available as Open Access.
